  • Establish a permanent center for orphans
  • Provide education about HIV/AIDS prevention to our students as part of their education

HISTORY OF MERU PEAK - Meru Peak School was started in 2001 as a Primary School and a school for children with mental disabilities. In 2002, the school moved to the present location and the children with disabilities were transferred to SIBUSISCO centre in Tengeru.

We decided to provide free education for many of the orphans from the Good Hope Orphanage Center that is located 2km away.In 2006, we were compelled to recruit more orphans as full-time borders. These are children who have lost their parents to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Tanzania. These children are supported by sponsors from around the world who help to pay for school fees and living expenses.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL LEADERS - Mr. Maganga is a professor and dean of a local college in Mount Meru. He has been a life-long educator and believes education is the key to creating opportunities for young people in Tanzania. Joseph along with his wife and adult children, live on the premises and manage the school. His children teach the children and assist in the administration of school business. Both Mr. Maganga and his wife donate significant portions of their annual income to keep the school running.

CERTIFICATION - Meru-Peak is registered as a private school certificate number: AR.02/7/021 in the district of Arumeru.

LOCATION - Meru Peak School is located at Ngongongare Village in the Arumeru District within Arusha Region. The school is situated in the saddle between Mount Kilimanjaro in the east and Mount Meru in the west.
